My students need current popular fiction. These lists include everything from epic prose to zombie cheerleaders. Our kids read everything.

Our arts-focused middle school has never had a librarian until now. For the past 14 years, our library has been staffed and stocked solely by parent volunteers. They have done an excellent job. Now, we have a new Library Assistant and we are hoping to build a library culture. Our library serves roughly 500 students in grades six, seven and eight but we do not receive any funding from the district. We rely solely on our PTA for library funds. Given the current economy, everyone is out of money. Our parents have worked so hard to keep our library open and functional. It is time for us to keep it current. The books included on these lists are titles our students have been begging for. Now that the economy is so bad, many parents can't afford to buy new books. Most of our students rely on libraries for new reading material. The books they crave often have huge waiting lists at the public library. Such a long wait can be very disheartening to an excited child. If you help fund these projects, you will help to keep our children engaged in literature and allow them a healthy escape from the stress of daily life in such a harsh economy.
