Building A BIGGER Book Nook

My students need a wide assortment of books to keep them reading all year long.

This third grade class needs lots of books in the class book nook to keep the students wanting to read. Teaching in a high poverty and high ESL population comes with challenges. The need for lots of books at varying degrees of difficulty is one, but also providing the opportunity for students to have choice because they are so limited in what is available at home.

My students read about 60 minutes a day. They need at least 3 books in their book bags to be ready. The book nook is depleted severely when everyone has taken 3 books out of the book nook.

These selections of books will add greatly to the choice factor for my kids, as well as build up the collection so that more is available for the students.

You will make it possible for my students to have an endless supply of books at hand to read when they need them. Read achievement will go up, and more importantly, a discovery of new topics, genres, and authors will be made with more selections to choose from.
