It's only the beginning of the school year, and we already need more school supplies!

This is my second year teaching 8th grade science at my high-need school. Just like last year, I have the pleasure of teaching a group of budding scientists who are eager to begin their journey through our year's curriculum. Unfortunately, my students and I are also encountering the same school supply problems we had last year -- namely, we don't have any. For the past few weeks, I've been providing my students with pencils every day because, owing to the current economic conditions, many of their household have been unable to purchase basic school supplies for the year. I've also had to meet all their paper needs on my own. I learned last year that color-coding my worksheets made it easier for my students to keep complete, updated binders. This year, I've expanded and improved upon last year's organization system, adding additional binder sections with new colored sheets. But paper isn't cheap, and I'm reaching the point were I can't afford to copy worksheets and keep my students organized.

For the reasons described above, I am requesting some basic supplies to last me and my students at least until Christmas. Having adequate supplies of paper and pencils would make teaching and learning in my classroom much, much easier.
