Words Galore

My students need a Vocabulary Center. This center will include a word web that breaks down vocabulary words by prefixes, suffixes and root words. I am also requesting a vocabulary strategies chart which offers a word a day to build on vocabulary skills. The tricky words and phrases will help the students learn about idioms and homophones.

Have you ever come to a word and you didn't know what it was or how to determine what it means? Just ask my students, we've learned the basics of context clues and now it's time for business. My Intervention class ranges from 3-5 graders and they all need help with vocabulary skills.

My students are often interested in answering questions in a fast paced method versus reading through the whole passage and discovering what the words really mean. They can do so much better if they had the materials to occupy their minds.

I am requesting a Vocabulary Center that provides antonyms, synonyms, prefixes and suffixes to help them learn about root words. This project will enable us to develop a sense of understanding for tricky words like homophones and allow us to break down words using a Word Web.

With your generous help, you will enable them to open the door to the world of Wonderful Words. We can finally put to rest those old basic, elementary words like happy and funny,we can use words like jubilant and comical. Just imagine, you may be holding the key to the future writers of America. Your help will make a huge difference in the way we articulate words in reading and in writing.
