Technology is the way of the 21st century. I teach 6th grade science in a very rural community. There is not many opportunities in the community to see how technology is used especially when it comes to the field of science.

6th grade science students are always interested in using science to solve crimes. Many students of this age are CSI watchers and are amazed by the technology that is used to solve crimes. They find it fascinating when they have some of the same knowledge that the crime solvers on T.V. use.

Since technology is used in many fields of science to solve problems, I would like to be able to show my students a small piece of technological equipment that is used often in medical and other science fields. I would like for them to see a centrifuge and how it operates and what it does to help answer questions that scientists have.

At young ages many students aspire to become doctors or scientist, however they tend to lose enthusiasm in these career's because many schools do not adequately prepare students for these professions. I would inspire my students to become scientists whether it be by solving crimes or finding cures for diseases. Your help will make it possible for my students to use a device that will hopefully spark a goal to help people in the future.
