I teach high school science, social studies, math, and English to special education students who are at least three grade levels below their peers.

Since my students' ability level is below that of their peers, they need a variety of instruction strategies to keep them focused. One area of particular interest is multi-media. Students love to view world news, videos related to their curriculum, and instructional activities as if they were at a movie theater.

I need an LCD Media Projector to enhance their learning experience. We do a Take 5 word of the day and a quote of the day. I am also incorporating music into my curriculum. Students get to pick a word of the day and choose a song or poem that relates to the word of the day. Students then create a power point to either change the lyrics of a song or simply display the lyrics to a song. By doing this, students are able to see and hear the word, which enables them to learn the unknown words better. The World History book that our district purchased is very difficult for my students to read, by having an LCD media projector in my classroom, I would be able to access the book online and have the text read to the students. Again, the students are then able to see and hear the word, which will build their vocabulary skills.

Your help will ensure that my students are exposed to material that they can not read on their own or do independently. By providing this wonderful resource, I will be able to show and do things that the students would not have the opportunity to experience. My students are at the highest chance of dropping out of school and I want to do everything in my power to keep them in school and watch them walk across the stage in four more years. Thank you,
