Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I'm about to start the new year at a reconstituted school. This is my first year and my assignment calls for me to do push-in ESL. There is not much space in the back of the room for my students to work effectively. I can not raise my voice at my students due to the other class in the room.

Some of my students don't always start the new school year right off the bat. I have others that come in the middle or the end. I always need to modify my teaching plans according to their level. No teacher wants to leave their eager students behind and having the netbook accessible can change all that.

This past year I have found a wealth of information on the Internet. Sites such as spellingcity.com that can model spelling lessons and dictation for students at all levels. I can also save them for future use. Another innovating site is Starful that demostrates the importance of phonic awareness. Our newcomers just adore math.com because it instructs and model important math steps for them to learn. All of these sites are effective and teaches my students that learning can be enjoyable even if English is your second language. All of the lessons that I found on the Internet can be saved for future use and save time for planning every year. It can also keep tabs on my student reading, writing and math levels to show during report card time.

Giving to this project can assure that all of my students will be able to master all basic skills their first year and challenge them at a pace that they can understand.
