I teach third grade at an inner city school. I have just switched grades, and in moving up to the intermediate level, I'm finding my classroom library lacking. I have a huge ability range in my classroom, from kids struggling to read at a kindergarten level to kids reading books four or more grade levels ahead of them.

Every day the kiddos who have the hardest time during reading workshop fight for access to the same few books. They love the visual cues and easy to identify with characters of Calvin and Hobbs, or Garfield. These books are "cool" to read, even for those "tough" 3rd grade boys.

I'd really like to be able get the struggling readers, or too cool to read kids, excited and engaged during reader's workshop. The solution is to stock our classroom library with plenty of the books that they already love, even though for some of them it's only the idea of reading one of those elusive copies! Please help me put "cool" books into the hands of every kid!

Your help will put books that my students sign up on waiting lists for in their hands now! Instead of disappointed kids pretending to read something that doesn't interest them, you will help get the books that they really want to read into their hot, sweaty, and grateful little hands!
