I am a third grade teacher with limited Science and Math instructional supplies. From watching the launches of NASA's Endeavor and Discovery, my students have a strong passion and enthusiasm for Math and Science; however, instructional resources are limited. I have no shame in asking for donations and it is from those donations that my classroom is mostly furnished. So thank you in advance for supporting my classroom and my 3rd grade students.

The classroom needs a set of instructional DVDs that show practical applications of basic/complex Math and Scientific theories. I want to show my students the experiences of Disney Imagineering. Having grown up with my teachers using Square One TV, Mathnet, and Mr. Wizard, I want to give my students similar experiences where they can see applications of complex Scientific/Math theories from the classroom. Within the scope and sequence of the Math and Science curriculum, the DVDs will be helpful for the students to see a particular experiment as part of a lesson. Furthermore, the students will write about the Science/Math theories and their progress will be monitored via Math and Science journals.

You will make it possible for my students to see interesting, "cool" applications of complex Math and Science theories. With my students living in a high-need, redeveloping neighborhood of Louisiana, my students will see how Disney Imagineers and scientists (e.g. Dr. Bill Nye) use Science and Math to bring magic to the world. This magic will inspire my students to pursue possible careers in Math and Science.

My 3rd grade students need 10 Science instructional DVDs, including "Bill Nye the Science Guy" videos, and 60 composition notebooks. The cost of this proposal is $569, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."
