Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

“Each one of us is Unique and Special”. Although, there are some of us that need some extra help to learn.

Whether it is to read, write, count, or to learn about basic life skills some of us need extra help to achieve and to succeed. I teach Special Education for the moderate to severe levels. My classroom is a place where the students feel safe and are excited to learn.

This is my second year teaching Special Education. I love being a Special Education Teacher and have worked hard to be in this profession. I had felt the calling for many years and I am here and I am making a difference. I am teaching the 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students with a multitude of different disabilities. In my first year of teaching, I bought much of the special equipment on my own. Starting up as a new teacher has been financially difficult, due to purchasing the specialty items some of my students need. When I started, there was nothing in the classroom besides tables and desks. I have brought in some of the specialized tools for my students while there is so much more they could use and benefit from for their educational needs. Specifically, my students would benefit from sensory tactile, and communication learning tools like a pretend and play teaching telephone. They would also benefit from math manipulatives like an elapsed time talking clever clock.

I have faith in the generosity, kindness and caring of humanity. I thank all of you in advance as do my students. As I teach life skills along with the basics to my students- I have belief in them too.
