I have the best students every year! I truly believe that students perform to your expectations. I absolutely LOVE teaching 7th grade math and science each and every day (and even tutor during the summer months). Technology is not always available -- which is why I need help.

Middle school students often have a very difficult time engaging and remaining engaged throughout math and science lessons. As I do my best to make it relevant and interesting to them, technology ALWAYS peaks their interest. My students love incorporating technology, but as we all know, funds are very tight.

I could list over 100 ways that a projector will enhance my students' learning experience, but I will just name a few that immediately come to mind: Whiteboard lines -- project a blank piece of lined paper onto the white board. Shared Reading -- Every book is a big book when you have a projector! Use it to project a countdown timer. Use it to keep the kids focused on the task, knowing that the clock is ticking, and they will soon be out of time. Manipulatives can be placed under the camera for all to see clearly. Consider how easily students can see and understand if I can teach using a ruler and protractor as well as base 10 blocks, clock, etc. enlarged using a projector. Students can follow the teacher model at their individual desks and have confidence that they are learning it correctly. Science Demos, going over tests, graphing, charts, tables, displaying student work, class Web-Quests, reflections and tessellations, displaying fragile items or print photographs, labeling activities - project on a white board and label images such as cells, dissecting, travel interactively using Google Earth.

Please recognize that I know times are rough right now economically. As a matter of fact, my husband's hours were cut about a year ago, so I understand. Having said that, I still racked my brain trying to find a way to be able to personally purchase a projector for classroom use. Only you can make a difference for our future. Every single student in my classroom receives 100% of my focus each day and I feel that incorporating a projector will allow me to raise that to 110%. You will make it possible for them to really conceptualize and follow along with daily activities better than they ever thought was possible. The few days I was able to borrow technology and use a projector in the classroom were amazingly different! Students asked, "What is that -- do we get to keep it all the time?" They were so intrigued and engaged and ON TASK! They love learning and I need your help to help me keep it exciting.
