MORE "I teach seventh grade Integrated Science which includes, atmosphere (weather), human biology, cells and heredity, and motion and forces. I teach at a very high-need, focus, and title 1 school in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Because of the economy, supplies are very limited at my school. Don't you hate it when students do not have paper or lots of paper to complete a group assignment? Don't you hate it when you are doing an assignment and no one can really see what you have written down but you? I want to give all students some way of having an opinion and letting others see it without saying it aloud. I want to try to eliminate all the excuses and just let them stick it up big for all to see. I want all students to have a say in the class. I want students to be able to get up out of their seats, walk around the classroom, and posting it up (ideas, opinions, theories, hypothesis, etc) so that they can all see what others have to say. This will give each student an opportunity to see what others are thinking and to learn from or correct each other. This could increase the learning process in the classroom. It will give the students more responsibility to their learning process. It could make learning more fun. Post-It Chart paper would be a great tool for me to utilize in educating my students in the critical thinking process. It will give them an opportunity to learn from each other and to quickly correct mistakes. Post-It Chart paper will give students the opportunities to complete different types of organizers (descriptive, analogy, classifying, Metaphor, comparing, Venn, etc) for all the students in the classroom to participate in completing. It will give them the opportunity to walk around the room to comment on or make changes to what has been written on the post-it chart paper. It will also give students the opportunities to spot mistakes and learn from mistakes by seeing what other think or what they wrote on the post-it chart paper. This resource could really help with formative assessment probes in which my students need immediate feedback to promote a rigorous learning environment. This resource can really help my students a great deal. My students will be absolutely grateful for this resource. This resource can help my students work better in cooperative groups, give the shy students, that are afraid to answer out loud, a voice, and cut down on the notebook paper use that many students cannot afford at this time. Post-It Chart paper could increase the rigor to a classroom which could help many students think just a little more critically. HIDE My students need a pack of post-it easel pads and a pack of grid easel pads.
