Human Geography? Why it matters to everyone

How did the world population reach 6 Billion people? I teach AP Human Geography to 10th-12th graders in a high-need community.
I am working with the students to prepare them for education beyond high school. To prepare, students need to explore outside resources. Man of the students I teach do not have the resources to buy extra books nor do they have access to a computer or Internet.
I plan on using the video Germs, Guns, and Steel and World in Balance to illustrate to students how the world population has fluctuated over time and what the future may hold. I also plan on having copies of the book for students to check out for assignments. The students are also in need of up to date maps and statistics in the world atlases. I plan on using the flash card for students to quiz in class and check out to study for test.
Your help will ensure my students have a chance to broaden their knowledge and give them confidence to seek an education beyond high school.
