"I teach general music to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Our school is located in the inner city and is a high-need community. Thanks to strong administrative and staff support our school has a strong music program. However, we currently lack more expensive music technology equipment needed to provide students with full access to the world of music.
My students are learning about the traditional musics of various cultures and will soon be teaching music lessons to kindergartners in a nearby elementary school. By the end of the marking period they will have composed and recorded their own modern songs using aspects of the traditional music they studied.
Throughout this unit, my students will watch authentic musical performances from other cultures, critique videos of their peers teaching, and ultimately compose and record their own songs with computer applications like Garage Band. An LCD projector would make such a unit possible and help me to provide my students with a better understanding of music.
Your help will allow my students to deeply experience music making in our world. These experiences will give my students the confidence they need to effectively use their knowledge and skills to teach children who do not have the opportunity to attend music classes. With your help my students can become positive personal and musical roll models for younger children in their own neighborhood.
My students need a LCD projector to watch musical performances from around the world.

Dear Brian, Rosemary and Ed, David, Ron, Janet, James, Amy, Brooke, Chris, Michelle, Jackie, Phantom, Rebekah, Melinda and Anonymous Donor,
Your donation toward my LCD projector is significantly increasing the levels of excitement and interest in my classroom. The students are enjoying watching video of themselves teaching music to children and performing at a nursing home. They've also begun giving reflective interviews following these events. Watching all of these videos as a class has notably improved my students' reflections and self-critiques. In addition, the projector is invaluable when my students are learning to compose and record on the Garage Band program. I bring my portable projector to the school computer lab and am able to demonstrate how to use the program while the students are accessing the program on their own computers. My students and I love the new projector and the excitement it has already brought to music class.
Thank you for opening up this area of technology to me and my students!
With gratitude, Ms. C.

Dear Brian, Rosemary and Ed, David, Ron, Janet, James, Amy, Brooke, Chris, Michelle, Jackie, Phantom, Rebekah, Melinda and Anonymous Donor,
It is difficult to put into words how grateful I am for your donation. My students and I can't wait to begin exploring and making music with our new projector!
Visual projection will greatly help my students as they strive to experience and learn more about music. Countless resources that were previously inaccessible to them will now be at their fingertips and larger than life on our classroom wall. These resources will motivate my students and allow them to discover the intricacies of an increasingly high-tech world of music.
The LCD projector you have helped purchase brings a new dimension of learning to our classroom and helps level the playing field for these inner-city students! I can't thank you enough for your support!
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.

"I gave to this project because I am a musician and I know how important music is. Some of my fondest memories of the classroom revolved around music time and music class. I think music is one of the best forms of communications and sometimes, no matter the language, the message is always expressed well. When there is sorrow, you feel it, when there is joy, you embrace it, when there is fun, you live it! Music makes the world go round. I only wish I had more to contribute...
Good Luck...
