""Catered Too" expands students from a traditional foods course to a career pathway in food service settings. This course allows 11th and 12th grade students to articulate college credit through a local community college's culinary arts program and receive certification in the National Restaurant Association's ProStart program. Our students obtain Safe Food Handler's certification through the county health center. The program allows students from all socio-economic backgrounds to utilize skills in food service and hospitality and management. Students in our program are excited about food preparation and love to cater to others in the district, community and other opportunities as they become available. We have more students apply for this program than we can currently allow in. The local district has been very eager to support this program and our students.

We are a traditional Family & Consumer Sciences classroom with traditional equipment. While we have been able to acquire funds to implement a few commercial equipment items, we always need to expand our supply to allow our students to experience a variety of food service applications throughout their catering experiences. The more equipment options that our student possess, the more prepared they are to go into the commercial food service settings. Our classroom simulates food caterings and settings from a business aspect to allow our students to be better prepared for the workforce upon graduation.

My students need equipment to enhance the catering functions that they will be involved in throughout the year as part of the Liberators Catered Too. My ultimate goal for this program is to completely renovate traditional kitchen lab areas into a commercial food service setting. However, I have found it beneficial to piece together a variety of commercial equipment to enhance learning. Even small equipment items such as crepe pans, non-stick saute skillets, etc. can impact the experiences our students are able to utilize. Our students will be competing in the ProStart Culinary Competitions and FCCLA STAR Events Competitions in February. This is an amazing opportunity for many of them to receive recognition and possibly obtain scholarships.

As a donor, you can "Cater Too" ... through our students' Catered Too project ... allowing our students to be better prepared for the America's workforce in the food service area! Thank you for Catering to our students!

My students need 25 pieces of cookware such as muffin pans and a creme brulee set.

Dear Jeanette Fallon, Wokjai, Karen, Susan, David, Mary Gregory and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Your donation for the Catered Too project has impacted our students greatly. The equipment has been used for a variety of catering events and will continue to be used for future events. Every event allows the students to acquire skills necessary for the food service career pathway. It is exciting to see our students continue in this career path. Through your donation, perhaps our students will one day be of service to you as you dine in a food service setting. Your contribution is long lasting and will impact students for years!

With gratitude,
Mrs. G.

Dear Jeanette Fallon, Wokjai, Karen, Susan, David, Mary Gregory and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,

Your generosity has been a tremendous blessing to our ProStart Culinary Arts program and students. The items that you have funded will be utilized for our culinary arts catering functions, culinary arts competitions and instructional purposes. Our students are excited about the opportunities that they have received in this program and the possibilities of pursuing careers in the food service industry.

Perhaps one day, one or more of the students that you have assisted within this program, will "cater to" you in a food service setting.

With gratitude,
Mrs. G.

"I gave to this project because I have worked in inner city child care food service (scratch cooking) and am enthusiastic about young ones learning how to make good food from primary ingredients. Too many don't know how to cook because their mothers/fathers didn't know how to cook and make a living from it if you have to (not the easiest in the world). I had some work-study students say they'd study more 'cause they didn't want to end up working in a kitchen. Different strokes..."
