MORE "I teach struggling math students in kindergarten through sixth grade. We are a county school and therefore do not always get as much funding as city schools.
A lot of my students do not have the ability to reason in their minds like most their age. Therefore they need a hands on learning environment to help foster that learning. Math is a harder subject therefore in order to teach it the right way there is a strong need for many manipulatives. Each topic in math is unique in its own way which allows for fun and engaging lessons if there are the right tools to use. My students could use the place value dice to get away from paper and pencil, play money so they know what the real things look like, geoboards for the kindergrtners to make shapes, number cards to compare, list in order, or dominoes for several number recognition games. With your donation I will be able to take the dreaded math class and turn it into a fun and exciting place to foster learning. I will strive to give every child that comes to my room the love and passion for that I have. HIDE My students need 12 math manipulative, including Unifix Cubes, Dominoes, Number Line Boards, Geoboards, a MathShark game.
