Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Disabled middle school students expand their world through books!!! I teach a class of middle school students with various moderate disabilities. Their reading level is Pre-K to 1st grade, but that does not stop their love of books. We read together and discover the world of the Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss and Juni B. Jones to name a few. The students laugh and cry with the characters in the books and then tell me things that happen in their lives that are similar.

We have both an opportunity and a need this year. We have a wonderful listening center with several headphones! But...we have only 4 books on cd. We are asking for a donation of the Magic Tree House books on cd so we can relive the adventures again and go on some new ones.

I have put in my request cart or WISH LIST the collections from Barnes and Nobles of Magic Tree House Cd's. Each Cd contains 3-4 books and are narrated in wonderful animated voices. The students will be able to select a book and sit in our listening center area and escape to brave new worlds far from our classroom.

Your help and generosity will give my students a window or door to the wonderful worlds these authors have created. Too often my students ability to love reading is not realized because they listen to the reading rather than read...Please help me continue to make a difference in their lives.
