"I teach second grade in a low-income community. Many of the families in the community have been dramatically affected by the recent decline in our community, resulting in the loss of jobs and homes. It has become more important than ever that school is safe place for students to explore and develop as learners.
Leading research has shown that in order for students to comprehend, they must first access their prior knowledge so they are able to make meaningful connections in their learning. As a teacher in a low-income community, many of my students arrive at school with little or no experiential knowledge. Stories about the ocean, museums, and even theme parks may result in poor comprehension due to lack of previous knowledge. Through the use of an ELMO projector, I am able to display items for students to see. Items including pictures, text, and even three-dimensional objects can be projected onto a screen, giving all students access to things they may have never experienced before. The ELMO projector allows the students to build their previous knowledge through visual learning experiences. Your donation will allow students for years to come to see things they have never seen before. Through digital projection, you can help develop new learning experiences for students and promote a love for learning. HIDE My students need an ELMO document camera.
