Do You Hear What I Hear?

My students need a classroom CD/Cassette Recorder, 4 headphones with the junction box to plug into with volume control, Dr. Seuss books with CDs, Lisitening Lotto: Beginning Sounds, Ending Sounds, Sight Words, Rhyming Sounds, and musical instruments.

Help me show my students that listening is key to learning! I am a Speech Pathologist in a public school district. I work with special needs students, as well as my regular education students. They range in age from preschool to high school. I have between 50 and 60 students. I want to be able to improve their listening skills with these items on my wish list.

We all take hearing for granted, but when you are hearing impaired you miss so much of what is happening around you. Help me to expose these students to audio books and musical instruments that bring different sounds to their ears. My regular education students will benefit from the exposure of music, stories, and different sounds also. They love the headphones in computer lab and I know that they will enjoy these.

With a CD/cassette player I can expose my students, who have a variety of disorders such as: hearing impaired, comprehension deficits, articulation, asking questions and giving answers, and localization of sounds are just a few of the topics that can be addressed. I need supplies to make therapy fun and make the students want to work just a little harder and I think these items will achieve this goal

Without your generosity my students will not have a CD/Cassette Player to play any of the CD books available. We need to expose them to all we can and make learning fun! With the musical instruments I can work on localization of sounds and help my hearing impaired students become more familiar with everyday/environmental sounds. Please help me to be able to expose these students to sounds that will make books come to life and everyday activities more interesting.
