Let's Get Fit for Learning!

My students need some playground equipment for them to be able to play with at recess and during our exercise and movement time. I am asking for kickballs, soccer balls, basketballs, jump ropes, hula hoops, a rack or storage container for the items, Frisbee, velcro catch and throw ball sets, exercise videos. Anything to get them moving and keep them active.

I teach first grade students in a rural area of South Carolina. Our school is a title one school.

In today's world, children are more prone to watch television and play video games than they are to going outside and being active. As a result, more of our children have become overweight. I want to change this growing trend with my students by providing them the opportunities and equipment they need to be more active.

Do to limited playground equipment and resources, I am asking for basketballs, kickballs, soccer balls, and throw and catch games to promote physical movement and teamwork with my students. I am asking for hula hoops, jump ropes, frizbees, exercise videos, and music cds to get my students moving. I am also asking for a container or rack to store everything. With this equipment, my students will be ready to learn as they become more active. I don't want them to sit in their desks all day long. I want them to feel good about themselves and want to encourage their classmate. I want them to see how fun being active can be!

With your help, I will have the supplies needed to get my students ready to move, learn, and be healthy.
