"Digital cameras are a huge asset to any art program, but are essential to a portfolio building photography class. I have over 150 art students and only 6 working cameras for students to use on their portfolios for college. I teach in a high needs school and we do not have the resources to purchase new cameras. Each day is a struggle to teach so many students digital photography with so few cameras that are embarrassingly out of date.
Whenever I give an assignment, it has been very difficult for my students to complete it on time when they are competing for time with the camera. In addition, when they upload their pictures to the computer, they are regularly disappointed by the low quality image.
A new fleet of digital cameras would do just the trick to improve my digital photography class. Cameras would increase the work capacity my students are capable of, as well as improve the finished images they produce. They will also be able to use these cameras to document all of their artwork in order to compile a competitive portfolio for college or beyond.
I have no doubt that with your help my students will have an enriching experience in photography class that will carry them into a better future. They will be empowered by the opportunity to take professional quality photographs and work even harder to succeed in my class. Your help will ensure that my students have a successful year and that my students next year will too! Dear Trisha,
I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to my class that put brand new digital cameras into the hands of my students. It was such a rewarding experience to see my students get so excited to take pictures because they knew the quality of their work would be topnotch. Having these new cameras has enabled my students to move past the difficulties of working with old and broken cameras and allowed them to flourish as independent creative and inspired photographers.
We just recently completed a project where students had to document their lives outside of school and use only images to express their activities and feelings when they are not in class. The results were an outstanding glimpse into the world of teenage students that I think very few people really get a chance to see. Without your contribution, this project would not have been possible. We would not have had enough cameras for students to take home and bring back on a daily basis. Not to mention the quality of the pictures themselves were truly above par.
The great thing about digital cameras is that they can be used time and time again, for years to come. So many students will have the privilege of working with these digital cameras and seeing their world through a new lens. Thank you so much for your donation and incredible support of my students and their learning experience.
