"I am a first grade teacher in a small Title One school. My students are very enthusiastic about learning. However, we lack a sufficient amount of Math manipulatives to use in our classroom. Manipulatives are tools that allow children to partake in hands-on learning.

Our school has adopted a wonderful Math curriculum that supplies the students with Math books but we lack the amount of manipulatives that we need to truly "explore" Math through hands-on learning. First grade is a critical time when students are building their mathematical foundations through addition, subtraction, and measurement.

I would love for my students to create and manipulate Math problems so that they can discover numerous ways to solve problems. Having large quantities of Math manipulatives would open doors of opportunity to create Math centers and learning areas in my classroom so that the students can explore numbers and operations. My goal is to help my students become problem solvers who love Math as much as they love reading.

Your help will ensure that my students receive manipulatives to aid in developing the necessary skills and understanding to reach their goals in Math.

My students need 16 Math manipulatives and activities, including a Puzzle Fun Math Card Library, a Daily Math Station, a Number Line Math Activity Chart and Place Value Blocks.

Dear Natalie, Shannon, Christie, Nicole and Anonymous Donors,
I am overwhelmingly appreciative of your gracious donations to my "hands-on help" project.

The materials that you have helped purchase will further the learning of all students in my classroom. Hands-on materials and manipulative's are extremely important in the learning process. These supplies will allow my students to gain a better understanding of number concepts and application.

I am excited to see the deeper level thinking that will take place as students manipulate and play with numbers. Thank you again for your generous support.

With gratitude,
Mrs. L.
