Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach an inclusion 5th grade class in a high-need community. My students represent a rich diversity of backgrounds and abilities, and have lots to share with one another.

Because I have such a range of learning styles in my classroom, I need to provide ways for my students to demonstrate the different ways in which they arrive at solving problems and finding answers to questions.

With a document camera, my students can present their work to the class and discuss their thinking, solicit immediate feedback, and learn from each other in the moment. As their teacher, I can use their work samples right away to help develop responses and ways of thinking through a particular task without having to wait until I can make an overhead transparency (thereby losing the spontaneity).

You help will ensure that my students have the many opportunities they need to share their work and learn from one another. You will make it possible for my students to have access to technology that empowers them as learners.
