"I am an enthusiastic teacher in need of classroom library resource center to enhance student learning. I am an 8th grade math teacher specializing in Pre-Algebra and Algebra courses at a low-income, high-need middle school that is facing another year of little-to-no money in the budget for classroom supplies.

Each year, our students come to a very basic middle school hoping to learn necessary skills for their future. With a lack of monetary funds in our budget, I feel unable to provide them these skills. A majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch program and therefore are unable to acquire basic supplies such as paper and pencil, let alone resources and books to help their learning.

Throughout the school year, students are expected to apply math skills and knowledge to real-life situations. I would like to teach students how they will use math in real-life. With a math library and resource center, students will have access to additional help, practice, and enjoyable stories about math. There will also be materials for parents to also learn the skills their children are learning. This resource center will help students year after year succeed in math classes.

You will make it possible for students to learn and experience all the different things that math has to offer them! hide»

My students need a bookshelf and a library of math books, guides, workbooks, activities, flashcards, and adventure books! details»

"I looked at your supply list again and was so impressed with the books and cards, etc. Also, i forgot to tell you last time that i was born in Nebraska, and that is only ONE of the reasons I donated to your project! Our school year is over here, but I know your materials will continue helping kids over the coming years! Have a wonderful summer. :-)"

Reply to the classroom

Dear Michelle Miller, Ms. Tarasawa, Arthur, dianne, Cindy, Pat, Scott, Kathy, Barney, Shirley, Jeff, Kim, kelly and Anonymous Donors,

The books, workbooks, and activity books you generously donated to my classroom have already proven to be invaluable in even a short amount of time. I have no doubt that these resources will continue to be an important tool in my classroom.
By providing a variety of math resources for students, including fun books to read, students are able to see that math can be fun and also learn various ways to solve any problems. The math dictionary, in particular, offers students definitions and examples that they can understand and then apply to their classroom work.
I look forward to utilizing these materials even more in the upcoming years and have no doubt that students will continue to benefit from your generosity.

Thank you again!!

With gratitude,
Ms. H.
