Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach grades 6-8 at a very low income school. I have five sections of general music during the day and then 2-3 days before school, I teach choir. There is a lot of interest in music among the students, but I do not have enough supplies to meet all of their individual needs.

My students are dying to learn how to play the guitar. A lot of the students would like to take private lessons, but their families cannot afford the cost. I would like to teach those who are interested guitar here at school during and after class. With so much interest in guitar, I couldn't imagine class anymore without one!

I am asking for a classical guitar, a stand, a guitar strap, and 2 instructional books and DVD's for the students. All the students will be able to view the DVDs and learn HANDS ON how to play the guitar!

You will make it possible for my students to peruse their music dreams in the classroom that could not be achieved any other way. By providing my students with the supplies they need to be successful, you will help them achieve their guitar playing dreams. You will also enhance their understanding of musicianship. Please make their dreams come true by helping us purchase a guitar!
