My class is a fifth-grade inclusion class. I teach all subjects to a diverse group of learners who actively respond to multi-sensory presentations. We are housed in an older building that was originally the segregated school for African-Americans in our city.

Through development of online and teacher created presentations, just about every topic in the fifth grade curriculum is either on the worldwide web, or is the topic of a "Jeopardy PowerPoint" game. Smartboard technology has outpaced our school's ability to obtain the essentials. While newer schools come equipped with the latest in technology, our school is way behind in these purchases.

Most "large ticket" items,like LCD projectors, are purchased through the PTA. Our school is an somewhat of an anomaly these days--a small K-5 school with a relatively small PTA, and therefore what little equipment is available is checked out and carted around to be shared.

The inconvenience and cumbersome nature of arranging to use the LCD projector, and setting it up in your room, makes it a time prohibitive plan for most teachers. With our own projector, we could travel the Internet, play interactive educational games, take virtual field trips, and even create our own class presentations in a convenient and comfortable manner.
