Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Dance and Sing and Learn Science. There are so many wonderful activities and objectives in elementary Science such as Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. But how can we get these students to learn and experience without actually being there? Through movement, song and dance, and hands on activities. I teach Science Lab activities to grades 3, 4 and 5 and prepare 5th grade students for the TAKS Exam.

We are a title one school with very low socio-economic students. Teachers at my school are not given supplies, the majority of us buy everything we need out of pocket. We also have to supply many of our students with school supplies. We have students that cannot afford school supplies, uniforms, and food. We even have students that are homeless. The one thing that students look forward to is Science Lab. They love any activity that is hands on, and they get so excited when they get to do experiments.

The resources that are needed are technology items to incorporate some of the science activities with song, dance and movement. I need an iPod, iPod docking station, CD player, and funds to purchase music, and different songs and strategies to teach the kids science in a unique innovative way.
