Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a high poverty school. Over 80% of students are eligible for free lunch. I teach the only special education class in the school. My students are in Kindergarten and have speech and language delays and some are identified on the autism spectrum.

My students have below average attention spans and they tend to have trouble staying focused on our activity when we sit on the rug. We currently have one bean bag. It helps the student sitting in it keep their attention focused on our activity and keeps them comfortable. In Kindergarten, we do a lot of instruction on the rug as opposed to desks because there is no writing. We currently do not have a budget for furniture, the school is currently only able to supply basic pencils and paper.

The solution is bean bags for all my students to sit in when we do rug work! This would help them remain comfortable and focused when we sit on the rug.

I simply cannot afford to buy the bean bags needed for my class. It is up to you to help us out so we can stay focused! These small bean bags would mean so much to my students.
