"I teach English to 180 seniors in a public high school with a high-poverty designation.

I want my students to read more and interact with technology that they already know. Currently, I only have two novels that I have enough copies for a classroom set. This project will allow my students to at least experience reading three complete novels in their senior English class.

I need 70 copies of "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley so I can have my classes reading the novel(alternately) and then discussing the issues of the novel with a blog. Students will blog using a system like Blackboard, which introduces students to a forum used on most college campuses and thus prepare them for the rigor of their post-secondary education.

Your generous assistance will allow students to study and read a classic novel and to be interactively involved with this novel through the use of blogging. It will be an unforgettable experience that will help teach students, through the characters and their Online discussions, the consequences of their choices in an engaging and authentic learning experience. Please help me make it happen for these seniors!

"I gave to this project because I can, at the drop of a hat, name at least 9 books that I read my senior year of high school. I never thought about it at the time, and I think it's a crime that other students don't have that opportunity. If I can help these students have access to books, then maybe I will teach them in my college classroom someday."
Rachel from Findlay, OH gave on Jan 5, 2010
"I am so honored that you chose to support this novel project for my seniors. It saddens me to think they may graduate and not get a chance to fully experience this great read. Thank you for your support and success to you in your classroom."
