"High school students come to my room every day ready to enter "the reading zone"...a place where they can focus on reading books for pleasure. We spend 30-40 minutes of each period in reading books that we have selected ourselves. The rest of the period is used to share reactions and recommendations.
My students can use the classroom library I've built by writing grants to purchase books, picking up books at yard sales and thrift stores, and taking donations. The collection has a good variety of topics and genres to hook even the most reluctant readers. But...the books are outgrowing the space I have for them and I need more storage! I will use the crates I've requested to shelve the books in my classroom so students can access them easier. Instead of being double-shelved, so that many books are overlooked by browsing students, the open crates will put books front and center, where readers can meet them. Your donation will let me take the books out of the overcrowded space in closet at the back of my room and put them on display where students are more likely to find and read them. HIDE My students need eight plastic crates to create shelving for the books in our classroom library.
The cost of this proposal is $180, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment Ms. D.'s Classroom:
