"I teach fifth grade in a small rural Arkansas town. The community is very small and poor. It is hard at times to get the materials needed to get to my students.

I want my students to have a love for reading. Reading is the basis for all education and the real world, plus it will open doors for my students. They need to be able to read for a purpose and for fun in order to go far in the world. Reading opens the door to many opportunities for people and can lead them to success in life.

The Dear America books are wonderful. They give the much needed reading skills in the form of diaries from history. Each book has a young person and their experience in America's history. Seeds of Hope: The California Gold Rush Diary of Susanna Fairchild, 1849 is a wonderful piece of literature that teaches about the Gold Rush days in a narrative form.

Make a difference and help some small town students open the door to their future with a good book. Help us get a classroom set of Dear America: Seeds of Hope: The California Gold Rush Diary of Susanna Fairchild, 1849.

My students need 30 copies of "Seeds of Hope: The Gold Rush Diary of Susanna Fairchild". The cost of this proposal is $388, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Thank you so much!! You do not know how excited I am about this project. This is a time in American History that will come alive through using this young adult book. The Dear America books are WONDERFUL for teaching history in a fun, interesting way. They are much better than using a textbook that just gives the facts. These books make it believable because it is about a young person that students can identify with.

My kids will be so excited when I tell them we are getting these resources!! Thank you! Thank you! WE appreciate your kindness and generosity more than you will ever know.

With gratitude,
Mrs. M.
