Completed:Low Income, ELL Students, Need All The Help They Can Get
"Trying to do my best for my Low Income, English Language Learners, Classroom.
I teach Pre-k/Head Start. I work with families that can barely speak English as well as pay for most of their bills. My students live in very poor conditions and do not get to act like children.
"Trying to do my best for my Low Income, English Language Learners, Classroom.
I teach Pre-k/Head Start. I work with families that can barely speak English as well as pay for most of their bills. My students live in very poor conditions and do not get to act like children.
I think that introducing this Carpentry set in my room would open up a whole new world to my eager learners. Many of the children in my room do not get to experiment with "Adult" Toys and this project would give them that opportunity.
The items that I need for this project are the carpentry bench, gloves, goggles, aprons, carpentry tools, wood chips, and different pieces of wood block. I believe this project will teach my children self help skills. Who knows, maybe one of my 18 children will decide to be a carpenter!
With your help my students will learn another life skill that can help them later on in life.
My students need a wooden workbench, 2 goggles and apron sets, gloves, tools, and additional woodworking supplies.

Dear Nik, Menendez Family, Mike & Molly, charmaine, Julianna, Christine from Newfoundland, Katherine and Anonymous Donor,
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for helping fund this project. Many of my children come from houses where there parents work all hours of the day and night. This makes it difficult for my children to have everyday interaction with their parents. It is my goal to help my children grow. Having this carpenters set in my room will teach my children a valuable tool that may provide a career for them in the future.
With gratitude, Ms. F.
On Feb 1, 2010, Ms. F. followed this note with student letters sent via mail to the donor who completed this project, and to donors who gave $100 or more.
"I'm donating in honor of my dad, who is a finish carpenter by training. I know he'd love this project! Best wishes!"
