"I teach third grade in a school where the majority of the students are from low income families. Many of the students are immigrants and learning English as a second language. In third grade students learn how to multiply. Ideally, they should have already mastered addition and subtraction facts. Unfortunately, many of the students come to third grade lacking skills in addition and subtraction. They can figure out facts by drawing pictures, but they do not know the facts by heart. I am able to teach them multiplication concepts; however, they have trouble memorizing the facts. This slows them down when they are doing more advanced math. Math Shark games would provide a fun way for students to learn math facts by heart, instead of having to rely on pictures to find the answers to multiplication or other math problems. Your help will be instrumental in providing my students with a solid background in mathematics which will be valuable for them, not only in third grade, but for the rest of their lives.
My students need 8 math sharks.

Dear Grace, Erin, Kristen and Anonymous Donor,
I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to "Math Facts Made Fun." In math I try to make learning math facts fun. If children are given different opportunities to practice math facts, they are more like to memorize them. The math sharks that you have funded will enable students to learn their math facts while playing games. The math sharks will be fun for the children. Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the children. With gratitude, Ms. K.
