My students need reading workshop materials, such as sight-word and phonetic games, sight-word readers, word cubes, and sight-word stamp sets, to enable them to have extra practice in establishing an early reading vocabulary.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every first grader wants to learn to read --especially my English-language learners who need extra help in establishing a reading vocabulary. Engaging extra practice with manipulative sight-word and phonetic activities will give them that opportunity.
My school is located in a poverty-stricken, Hispanic area of a large city. Many of my first graders come to school with limited-English experience but with a great desire to read. School is where this dream must come true, because most of their parents do not read or speak English and are unable to help their children with reading at home.
With the resources from this "All Hands On Board" project, our reading program will be supplemented with workshop activities and games that will boost the children's early reading vocabulary through both interactive sight-word and phonics work. The manipulative materials will offer the children opportunities to be involved in individualized-work with sounds and high-frequency words and in small-group activities as they learn to read.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Your help with "All Hands On Board" will enable my English-language learners to have engaging, extra practice with manipulative materials as they establish a reading vocabulary.
