"For many of our Burmese students, this is their second year of being in the United States. With having such an influx of ESL students, many are being put in regular classroom before they can even read English at a first grade level. I am now starting a new year and have many new challenges awaiting. I am ready for the challenge, but would love the help of the iPod touch.
I have heard many great things about the iPod touch. First of all, the students will be able to easily navigate the iPod touch since they will be able to click on the picture they want. Second of all, I want to put the textbook on the iPod so students would be able to listen to the book being read while they following along in the book. I believe that the students will understand the material better by listening to the subject matter, listening to the English being spoken, and visually seeing the words as they listen to what is being read. The iPod also has over 200,000 free educational materials, such as, lectures, presentations, videos, and readings from all over. The Burmese students will not be the only ones that benefit from this great project. I believe that all of my students will be excited and motivated about learning new information in a whole new way then what they are use to in school. My goal is to be able to purchase a couple of iPods to help assist all of my students in an easy, effective, and motivating way that gets even the most uninterested students reading and engaged.
Please help my students become engaged, active learners in their education by donating iPods to my classroom. My students, especially ESL, need an iPod touch with a case for class to help with their school work. Mrs. C.'s Classroom:
