Touch a Heart through a Card

My students need these materials to create cards for our deployed military personnel.

I instruct students in grades 1-4 in English Language Arts as a Title I teacher. I have watched the elimination of fine arts in the overall curriculum, in particular art, drama and music. I realize that student achievement is paramount but feel that our students need a venue where they can demonstrate their unique talents while creating something for others that will harness their understanding of coming together for the common good.

Students are often self centered. If given an opportunity to learn to focus on others through philanthropic lessons, they can ensure that future generations are more people centered.

Touch a Heart through a Card will give students the forum needed to demonstrate caring and sharing while being creative in their approach. The resources requested will be used in the creation of cards for deployed military personnel. It will also allow students to recognize the benefits that come when we work and serve together in a unified way. Our hope is to create over 2000 cards for this project.

Your support of this project will assist my students in learning that caring and sharing of your time, talent or treasure is bigger than just one person and more widespread than the neighborhood.
