"I teach music at a large school with wonderful teachers, students and administration. My classroom sees over 700 students in grades K-5 every week.
Despite having such a great school, we have no money in the budget to purchase instruments. I have completed my level I Orff-Shulwerk certification and plan on completing the second level this summer. This method of teaching gets every student actively engaged through movement, singing and instrument playing every week!
Unfortunately, we have only 6 large xylophones. This means that the majority of our class time students are pretending to play an instrument until they get their actual turn. If each student has their own instrument, they can compose music more freely, without having to stop their creative process to allow their partner to work.
I need one additional alto xylophone to continue adding to our collection. As their music teacher, I have worked hard to get quality instruments and supplies. The requested instrument will fill areas where we still have a need. Every student in our building will benefit from this instrument.
Your donation will help my students become better musicians and will open them up even more to the world of making music. The fulfillment of this proposal will impact children for many years.
My students need one alto xylophone to enable them to create and share music!

Dear dianne, Michelle Schuffert, Flora Keslin and Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation,
Thank you so much for your generous donations. We are so excited to see people supporting music education in our community. Your donation will touch the lives of countless children (over 600 each year, for many years come!)
I love my job- each day I get to see kids to express themselves through music in all sorts of new ways. Instruments are just one part of the picture and with this new alto xylophone, more students will be able to create and experience music!
Your support reinforces my belief that even in these hard economic times, education is still one of the most important things! Thank you so much, I can't wait to hear their creations on the new instrument. With gratitude, Mrs. A.
