My students need 9 Science resources, including a Science Fair Projects (Gr. 4-6) book, 2 Cross-Section Earth Models, an inflatable Solar System set and related games.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a 4th and 5th grade science teacher of a NASA Explorers, inner-city public K-8 school, I feel my students deserve a creative and stimulating approach to the learning process in the science curriculum.
Our main obstacle is funding of items needed to accomplish an innovative program. Our goal is that all children can learn when provided the means to do so. Since we are a NASA Explorers' school, we encourage active investigation into space exploration through activities schoolwide that are integrated across the curriculum. Investigation of careers in related topics is an active part of our students' learning process.
My students need models, activities and games on the Sun, Earth, Moon, and the Solar System which will help them conduct presentations. The resources that will be provided will help motivate our students to investigate careers and present activities in a scientific format for exhibits within the school, such as Science Fairs and Family Math and Science Nights. The projects they produce will give them a real sense of accomplishment that what they are learning has value.
Your assistance in providing some needed materials will help motivate my students to excel and have true feelings of accomplishment in their ability to learn as evidenced in their projects.
