"As a 4th and 5th grade science teacher of a NASA Explorers, inner-city public K-8 school, I feel my students deserve a creative and stimulating approach to the learning process in the science curriculum.

Our main obstacle is funding of items needed to accomplish an innovative program. Our goal is that all children can learn when provided the means to do so. Since we are a NASA Explorers' school, we encourage active investigation into space exploration through activities schoolwide that are integrated across the curriculum. Investigation of careers in related topics is an active part of our students' learning process.

My students need models, activities and games on the Sun, Earth, Moon, and the Solar System which will help them conduct presentations. The resources that will be provided will help motivate our students to investigate careers and present activities in a scientific format for exhibits within the school, such as Science Fairs and Family Math and Science Nights. The projects they produce will give them a real sense of accomplishment that what they are learning has value.

Your assistance in providing some needed materials will help motivate my students to excel and have true feelings of accomplishment in their ability to learn as evidenced in their projects.

My students need 9 Science resources, including a Science Fair Projects (Gr. 4-6) book, 2 Cross-Section Earth Models, an inflatable Solar System set and related games.

Dear Donors, you have my heartfelt gratitude for the Solar System supplies that you made available in my classroom. The students used all the models to help them with their projects and the information about each planet was extremely valuable. It was amazing how they tied in the models with their researching, drawing, and preparing for their presentations. The books on writing in science have been very helpful as students wrote about each planet.

My fourth graders will be using some of the models as they are now beginning to explore the Earth, Moon, and Sun relationship. All of my 4th and 5th graders will be using the Science Fair books to help them with projects that will be displayed at the end of April.

Since so many of the school systems are now having difficulty providing any enrichment materials, Donors Choose provides that much needed boost to any classroom curriculum.

With gratitude,
Ms. P.

Dear Sarah, Kim from Canada, M. Giant and M. Edium, DonorsChoose.org and Anonymous Donor,

My students and I can't thank you all enough for your generosity in providing the funds necessary for my project. It's very exciting and humbling to see others who share the love of science and enjoy helping to instill that love in young minds.

The materials you have provided will better enable our students to explore, create, and explain the important science concepts they are investigating. Some of the tools will allow me to demonstrate more visually the concepts, and hopefully, help them want to investigate further.

I will be sharing materials and techniques with my fellow teachers. Thank you so much for this opportunity you are giving my children.

With gratitude,
Ms. P.
