MORE "This project would benefit all of the students at my school, all of whom come from low to middle socio-economic backgrounds.
Many students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Students' level of exposure to the arts vary, but they all want to express themselves through art, writing, photography, or music. The students who are published in the literary-art feel a sense of pride. A projector would be a great instructional tool to show the student staff how to use desktop publishing applications. They will be able to see step by step how to create pages for the literary-art magazine.
As the teacher, I will be able to create a page and have student staff members follow along by seeing my work projected. This is a critical step for students being able to design and execute their own pages, the compilation of these pages will make up our magazine, which highlights the talents of our entire student body.
A projector will enable the student staff to evaluate artwork, view and discuss other publications, and visually learn how to create their own pages. Students will be able to project their pages so that the entire staff can evaluate their designs before the actual publication of the magazine, which makes for better collaboration. Ultimately, we will have a stronger product to present to our student body. The arts are sometimes not valued; however, students who are published in the literary-art magazine feel that their art matters. HIDE My students need a multi-media projector so that they can learn computer applications needed in order to publish our literary-art magazine.
