"My amazing 2nd graders deserve updated materials to grasp new concepts during the learning process. The three components of reading fluency are speed, accuracy, and expression. Fluency integrates word recognition with comprehension. These kits would help gain awareness of how my students are progressing throughout the year!
The fluency materials would help, especially because funding is low in our Title 1 school. We are faced with a defeated budget and are in need of new materials. My students are faced with outdated materials. These new kits are appealing to the eye and will make reading fun and interesting!
These kits would make it possible for me to teach this skill that is crucial for for young readers to grow and progress to the next level. A child who reads a passage fluently doesn't stop to decode words; he/she reads quickly and with expression because he/she knows the words and grasps the meaning of the text. It is possible for all students to obtain this skill.
Your help will ensure my students the opportunity to become better readers. "In 1st grade children learn to read, in 2nd grade they read to learn" I love this quote and think of it often while I am teaching!
My students need a Spiders CD Read-Along Kit, a Listen & Read Fluency Practice Pack and a Building Fluency Card Bank.
Thank you to each one of my donors for these wonderful products. My students thought this was an early Christmas arrival to our classroom this afternoon! They are thrilled to have another set of books on CD. They also can't wait to use the Fluency Kit that came as well. These items will be a great addition to our classroom. Fluency is so important for young readers. Both fluency packs that arrived today are going to be great resources for our young readers. I would like to thank you again for caring so much for education and my students!
