MORE "Playing instruments with your ears! I teach 5th grade beginning instrumental music in a rural, low-income public school district.
The beginning instrumentalists are faced with an abundance of new concepts at the start of their experience, the toughest one being the importance of maintaining a steady beat and listening as they play. The instrumental program has software and computers that can provide a variety of hands on learning experiences that will give an immediate boost to students' understanding of steady-beat and listening while playing, but lacks the instrumental microphones to enable their usage for student learning. By adding USB Snowball microphones, students can record their performance and, through a variety of software, gain an immediate understanding of steady beat and listening as they play. Some activities include using SmartMusic for immediate assessment of student accuracy, using GarageBand to record multiple parts by one musician, and to record student performances that can be analyzed post-concert. Your support of this project will allow my students greater achievement in instrumental music through the use of technology to enhance their learning of steady beat and aural skills at an increased pace resulting in more positive start to their instrumental music experience. HIDE My students need 2 Snowball USB microphones.
