Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach sixth grade science in an inner-city school where 95% of the students receive free lunch. We have a great mix of different ethnic backgrounds in the neighborhood.
We are making great strides in our curriculum and achievement thanks in part to a major university. However, my students are still lacking some of the basic science equipment that would help them to achieve higher. They often have to share equipment, and that can take a lot of extra time during the class.
My students would greatly benefit from new and up-to-date equipment to use. We use beakers on a weekly basis. But each table has different sizes. This can be confusing to some students. I teach a great light unit. We use tiny pieces of diffraction paper to see the light emitting from gas tubes. If my students had their own pair of diffraction glasses they would be able to see so much more.
With your generous donation my students can achieve to their potential. Your thoughtfulness would be put to good use from the moment the supplies enter my classroom. My students are eager to learn and thrive on their successes. I thank you in advance for your generosity.
