I teach physical education to elementary students in grades PK-5. It is a high poverty community with most students receiving free lunch.
Our school is a low performing school. Most of our children do not have any type of physical activity besides PE. Our school gym is the gymnasium, cafeteria, and auditorium. It is very small and we have 2 classrooms in there at once - that's 60 students at a time! My students need something that is going to be interesting and safe, while improving their brains at the same time. I attended a workshop where I learned how to speed stack and I fell in love. I know my students will love this. Sport stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where competitors stack and unstack 12 specially designed high tech cups called speed stacks in predetermined sequences. It is easy to learn and appeals to all ability levels of students. It promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, quickness, and concentration - skills needed to excel in both sports and academics. When students are stacking, they're using both sides of their bodies and brains to develop skills necessary to dribble and shoot a basketball, throw and catch a baseball, play a musical instrument, type on a computer, and more. Your help will make it possible for my students to improve their hand-eye coordination, concentration, and quickness which carries over into sports and academic success. My students need 30 sets of speed stacking cups. HIDEMrs. D.'s Classroom:
