"My classroom is an interactive learning environment filled with questions, investigations, and encouragement to find as much knowledge as possible about science and prepare for future science classes in college.
My students attend a Title I school. They are poor, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and have a thirst for knowledge and belonging. Their scores on standardized tests are improving in all areas except reading. Creating a classroom library and encouraging reading will help our students improve their reading skills, which will be evaluated on a yearly basis. Unfortunately, our school does not have the funding to supply my classroom due to proration.
I would like to create this science AR library in my classroom to help my students in four ways. First, to improve their reading skills through practice and comprehension testing. Secondly, to help the students retain information taught in class. Thirdly, to help them improve scores on standardized science tests. Lastly, I want to increase their reading and knowledge level to help them succeed in future science classes in college.
Your contribution will ensure success for my students in all of these areas for many years to come.
My students need science-related AR books to read. This will increase their reading skills, improve our reading scores, and help the students learn science topics in our course of study. Learning the information in my library will help prepare my students for college classes.

Dear Ginger Vinson and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Thank you so much for supporting my classroom through DonorsChoose. The students have already started reading the books and are enjoying reading about what we have learned in class while earning AR points for school.
These books will increase my students' reading levels, comprehension skills, and retention level. They will be much better prepared for college-level reading and comprehension thanks to your support of my science classroom library.
I am also creating question sets for each book to evaluate levels of understanding before and after reading the books in order to gain a better understanding of the impact these books will have on student learning in my classroom.
Words cannot express my gratitude for your generosity.
With gratitude, Mrs. H.

Dear Ginger Vinson and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Thank you so much for funding my project. I am creating an extensive classroom library filled with Accelerated Reader books based on the biology objectives taught in my classroom. I have selected used library book to populate my library, so your kind donation has purchased many book for my students. They will read the books, take AR tests on the books, complete a book summary, and answer standardized test questions related to the books.
These activities will help them perform better in my classroom as well as on standardized tests. It will help to prepare them for their college science classes as well.
Words cannot express how grateful I am for your donation to my project!
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.
