Soar Through The Skies With Butterflies

My students need a butterfly rearing kit, poster, and book.

My kindergarten students are fascinated by animals and a butterfly habitat would be a great way to incorporate their interest with a cross-curricular science project. We are a high poverty school and benefit greatly from hands-on activities.

As most schools, were are on a very strict budget and it's difficult to get funding for the necessities. Special projects such as this would probably be denied even though the students would benefit greatly.

This project would show the students the life cycle of a butterfly. The students will watch caterpillars turn into butterflies. We will make an hypothesis, graph, observe the life cycle, and compare the butterflies. We will also draw/write about the life cycle and make comparisons to other animals. These activities will incorporate several learning styles and benefit all academic levels. All students will be able to participate.

You will make it possible for my students to see the life cycle of a butterfly, use higher level thinking skills, and have ownership of the project. Watching a video or seeing a poster would not be as powerful.
