""Teaching Adapted Physical Education encompasses a variety of challenges. My class contains students who have various disabilities and handicaps, such as autism, Downs Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, mental delays, and visual handicaps. Using music for motivation as well as for movement opportunities allows for greater success in their fitness endeavors. My Adapted Physical Education class is full of inspiring young students with unique needs for movement activities. Seeing a student come alive as soon as music comes on is inspiring! My students' unique disabilities affect them in many ways and my goal is to plan lessons and activities that will benefit them in all of their needs. One area that presents difficulty for my students is gross motor skills. Gross motor skills are used every day when walking, running, climbing, jumping and moving about in the school. This is an area of deficiency for a majority of my students. Movement through music is a large part of my Physical Education program. Music instantly turns my students into fitness dance machines! I have gone through endless musical systems with scratched Cd's and broken adapters. Without music my physical education program is just average, I strive for much more than just average. Incorporating the Wii music system will create for an exciting and fun environment, maximizing activity time and student learning. Moreover, the Nintendo Wii now has the capabilities to add components such as the Wii Fit technology which is also the ultimate goal of my adapted physical education program. Your donation will help take my students one step closer to becoming independent, successful, healthier special athletes. I need to teach my special students that fitness can be fun for them. The addition of the Nintendo Wii system will be a huge benefit in my quest to reach this goal!
My students need the Wii gaming system, TV, and storage cart package.

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children. In special education we often use out of the box techniques to get our students moving. The items you have helped donate will open up a whole new innovative way in reaching a large group of special needs children. The physical education program will be positively revamped because of you! We are so excited, and can't wait to get started! Words are not enough to explain my gratitude. It is a humbling experience to have so many donations and so many folks care so much. I promise to continue to educate and motivate all of my special needs students to the best of my abilities. I hope to share with my colleagues a new technique in learning. Thank you so much. With gratitude, Ms. L.
