I am the art teacher for our elementary school, a magnet school for the hearing impaired in Virginia. I teach about 400 kids from a variety of backgrounds each week in grades pre-K through 5.

My art budget is very meager, only allowing for the bare essentials when it comes to supplies -- paper, pencils, glue, crayons. Although I am quite resourceful and creative when it comes to projects and materials, using the same few things can get a little monotonous. I am really hoping I will have the opportunity to expose all of my students in each grade level to printmaking this year. New materials, even as simple as styrofoam trays, open the doors to a whole new medium for my students to experience: printmaking. Styrofoam printing projects are simple, yet successful, and can be adapted to all grade levels.

I need 500 styrofoam trays to introduce all of my students in grades pre-K through 5 to printmaking. Using pencils, paint, and these styrofoam trays, my students can create stunning prints and other beautiful art projects. Printmaking projects relate directly to our visual arts curriculum while also enhancing classroom learning by building on social studies, math, science, and other disciplines.

As an art teacher, there is nothing greater than seeing my students grinning with pride as they admire their finished artistic masterpieces. Your help will make it possible for my students to succeed in their art projects, get excited about art, and improve their self-esteem.
