I am an Early Childhood Family Education Teacher. ECFE is a wonderful program that offers parents and their children from birth to Pre-K the opportunity to grow and learn together. Because both the parents and the children attend the class together we are able to support the whole family in their learning.
ECFE is open to everyone in the community, regardless of income or inability to pay. Many of the students in my classes are from low-income families who do not have the resources to expose their children to a variety of learning opportunities. These children will need these science, math and language skills in order to be successful in school and life.
Preschoolers are naturally curious about the world around them. I want to foster this curiosity and expose them to many different scientific learning opportunities. The feel and discover science bags, hands-on classification center, and science specimens sorting center will allow my students to be hands-on learners. These kits will encourage my students to touch and explore the various real-life specimens. My students will be able to expand their scientific knowledge and vocabulary, practice their observation skills, classify and sort objects, explore their scientific properties, and develop a curiosity about the natural world around them.
