"My fourth grade GATE students are in desperate need of computer technology that is able to access the Internet and download software. Funding is so scarce this year, with major budget cuts to education, and with the economy, my students' parents are struggling to just get by. My heart sank when I walked into my new classroom...against the wall were, undoubtedly, the oldest computers I had ever seen in a classroom. My next thought was, "You have got to be kidding me! These computers will never work for what I have planned for my kids!" Come to find out, they don't even really work at all. We are in great need of three computers for our classroom. With my personal laptop and one laptop assigned to the GATE classroom, that will give my class of 26 students access to five computers. This year, the technology component in my class is going into overdrive-we are going INTERACTIVE!! We just need the computers to help us integrate all of the components and allow for a decent student to computer ratio. Donors, this is your chance to help my students take a giant leap into the Technological Age. The goal is for my students to end the school year as tech-savvy, computer literate geniuses. No My Space or Twitter stuff here-I'm talking storm tracking with the National Hurricane Center, following NASA research teams as they conduct tests in remote field locations to develop the concepts and technologies that will be needed to travel to and from the moon and sustain a human presence there, and to collaborate on projects with students in other countries. We will only be able to do this(and so much more)with your generosity and help.
My students need 2 Toshiba Widescreen Netbook Computers and a HP Pavilion Desktop Computer.

Dear HP, David, Yana, Ray and Rebecca,
Through your kindness and amazing generosity, you have just made 27 fourth graders and their teacher so unbelievably happy! Technology has the ability to open up a vast world of learning, and I can tell you that my students are eager to explore this world. Through your donations, you have provided them with the means to access so much information and knowledge, to research and find answers to their wonderful, endless questions, and to participate in projects that are only available through computer technology. We truly appreciate your gift to our classroom and thank you for recognizing the value and positive educational impact that technology can have on students. You have opened up endless learning opportunities to my students and for that I am very grateful. With gratitude, Mrs. T.
