"Brown's University is a community of socially empowered third graders who recognize the need for engaged citizenship.
Once students realized that they could make a difference in their community, students showed interest. Students felt powerless because of their home situations and previous school experiences.
We need the resources and tools to decorate I Care Kits. We will use shoe boxes to create packages of items that will benefit senior citizens, disadvantages families, and individuals needing someone just to say "I CARE." We need paint sponges, brushes, spray bottles and stencils to create I-CARE Kits. This project will also serve as a continuing service learning project.
Engaged citizenship is lacking in schools and society. It is my goal, via projects such as "I Care," to empower students. Your help will empower all involved. Students will be able to understand that there are people/organizations that help those in need because it is the right thing to do--and not for a profit.
My students need paint sponges, brushes, spray bottles and stencils to create I-CARE Kits.

Dear Kate (pwopah), Michelle, Susan, Shobana, Kirsten, Amanda, Justine, Jessica, Tori, AO Fans and Glamberts, yekoc, mona, Dawn, Christina and Caiti,
Thank you for your kind donation. The gifts are being used to make our "I Care Kits." I am sure that the students/children who will receive the kits will be just as appreciative. This service-learning project is teaching the students that they can make a difference, one child at a time. This project is also helping the students to see who they are, recognizing their character traits--strengths and weaknesses. It is amazing and moves me. Again, thanks. We send a heart of love to you and everyone.
With gratitude, Mrs. B.

Dear Kate (pwopah), Michelle, Susan, Shobana, Kirsten, Amanda, Justine, Jessica, Tori, AO Fans and Glamberts, yekoc, mona, Dawn, Christina and Caiti,
I want to thank you for your donation
to OUR project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching
children. Engaged citizenship is key when trying to improve our communities. We are making a choice between being "active citizens" and "passive citizens." We are "active." More specifically, we are PROACTIVE!
The tools that you have funded will enable students to create and display their own vision of "caring," while helping others. We will make a difference.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the
children.
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.

"I am a very strong believer in projects that teach children how to give back, and this is a prime example. If it includes some artistry at the same time that is double duty. In honor of Adam Lambert I am glad to give back to support arts and music education programs."
